Mark your calendars! On Tuesday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m., the sound of music will fill the West Prairie Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium as the Jr. and Sr. High bands and choirs present their annual spring concert.
The evening promises a diverse lineup of musical selections, with an accidental running theme of trains… Guests can expect performances from the combined Jr./Sr. High Chorus and combined Jr./Sr. High band, as well as some pieces performed by just the Jr. or Sr. High band. This night will highlight the progression and growth of student musicians throughout this school year.
Both the Jr. and Sr. High bands and choirs are directed by Angella Fentem, who is in her 30th year of teaching. When asked how preparation for the spring concert was going Fentem said, “Our preparation for the concert has been going well. It takes quite a bit of hard work and repetition and hard work to learn the pieces and do them well. We are at the point that, while not perfect, we are moving past the notes on the page and just having fun making music together.”
The concert is free and open to the public, and all students, families and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend. So come early to get a good seat, and be prepared to applaud vocal talent, instrumental wonders and just a few too many songs about trains.
