Madilynn Tones is a junior at West Prairie Junior/Senior High School and the oldest of three siblings. She was born on September 8, 2008. This is her second year in journalism, a class she enjoys because it allows her to write, get involved, and share stories about the student body. She also values the strong connection she has with her teacher, Connor Sullivan.
When she first joined journalism, Madilynn was unsure about it—especially since finding stories meant stepping out of her comfort zone and talking to people she had never spoken with before. Looking back now, she laughs at how nervous she was, because she quickly realized that students were excited to be interviewed. She found the process fun, full of photos, videos, and plenty of laughter.
Outside of journalism, Madilynn plays basketball and works part-time at Farm King. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, going to church, and spending time with her three dogs. She is excited for this school year, especially to bond with the new journalism staff and step into more of a leadership role. Strong-willed and compassionate, Madilynn is the type of person who, when traveling, never hesitates to give her hard-earned money to someone in need –– even if it means skipping a Starbucks run.
