Brecken is a senior at West Prairie Junior/Senior High School in Colchester. Born on January 29, 2008, she comes from a big family with twelve siblings. At home, life is busy and lively with her four bunnies, two dogs, and a whole crew of outdoor cats.
This is Brecken’s first year in journalism. She hopes that between journalism and yearbook, she will have more opportunities to meet people, get involved in school activities, and capture memories for her classmates. When she first joined yearbook, she was nervous about what others might think of “a random girl taking pictures.” Looking back, she laughs at those worries, since photography has now become one of her favorite parts of the job.
Brecken decided to take journalism this year because she enjoys writing and storytelling, and she looks forward to sharing the voices and experiences of the student body. She also hopes the class will bring her closer to both her peers and her teacher, Mr. Sullivan.
Outside of school, Brecken enjoys sleeping, watching The Rookie, and playing “Steal a Brainrot” on Roblox. She is excited to see what this school year has in store and the experiences journalism will bring her.
