On Monday, April 13, 2026, at 7 p.m., there will be a donkey basketball game at the West Prairie Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium. Money raised will help fund After Prom, hosted by the Class of 2028. Come watch your classmates and upperclassmen participate if you can’t participate yourself.
Donkey jockeys must wear jeans and tennis shoes (absolutely no boots). Parental permission forms are required to participate and must be completed prior to the event.
Who can play?
There is a sign-up sheet in the main hallway. There will be at least two student teams. All high school students who are under 220 pounds and at least 16 years old by April 13, 2026, can participate.
The Class of 2028 After Prom Committee will attempt a first-come, first-served process, but final teams will be decided by the committee. All riders must be present by 5:45 p.m. the night of the event.
What is donkey basketball?
If you don’t know what donkey basketball is, visit www.dairylanddonkeyball.com. The games are 1 1/2 hours of wholesome, side-splitting, family fun tournament action.
The format will include two 16-minute elimination games with a 15-minute intermission between them, followed immediately by one 8-minute championship round.
How much does it cost to participate?
All participants are required to purchase a ticket for $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
How much are tickets to watch?
All spectators are required to purchase a ticket for $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Free kids admission coupons (for children under 5) and free donkey ride coupons (for children under 12) were sent home with West Prairie elementary students.
Tickets can be purchased using the QR code.

What else should people know?
There will be concessions, a dessert auction, a 50/50 raffle and hog raffle ticket sales at the event.
